Mercy Ships operate the largest charity run hospital ships in the world delivering free, safe medical care to some of the worlds least developed countries.
More than 50% of the worlds population live within 100 miles of the coast. Put simply, a ship is the best way to deliver a state of the art hospital to places where clean water, reliable electricty and skilled medical workers are non - existent or scarce.
The floating hospital ships are staffed almost entirely by volunteers who give their expertise for free to help treat dental and eye problems, cleft lips and palates, tumours, club feet, childbirth injuries, burns and various other conditions.
